Transition to School
Children’s Ark prepares children for the Transition to School and what will be expected of them in a new entrant classroom. We have researched these expectations, and plan for development in life long learning through experiences that capture children’s natural curiosity, and encourages a strong drive for exploration. We have a special emphasis on co-ordination and motor control which children need in order to be able to sit for extended periods
in a classroom, listen and concentrate, hold a pencil and undertake specific tasks. Pencil control, letter formation, early phonics, mathematical and scientific concepts are all included within these learning experiences, alongside motor coordination and brain gym concepts, which are essential to a child’s early learning.
Your child may attend for half days or full days, depending on your child’s needs and the sessions we have available.
Friday 8.30am-1.00pm all children attend for the duration of the session.
‘20 hours free’ Ministry of Education funding available for each child attending
(providing the child is 3 years or over, and the 20 free hours are not being claimed simultaneously at another centre).
Fees before age of 3: $17.46 / half day or $34.92 / full day or $26.19 for the shorter Friday session
